Days 1-2 (February 26-27, 2022): "Driver, to the Pool of Livers, please!"
What could go over better than a 26-hour getaway on the last weekend of February with wonderful friends! Mel and Juliet showed up at 2:15 PM Saturday, and off we went in their uber-comfy Tuscon to Liverpool. We arrived at the hotel just after 4PM and soon set off to explore the town and its environs. So nice that the sun doesn't set until 6PM these days! Dinner and a games night followed, at the very comfortable Best Western Liverpool.
So nice to see the good ol' breakfast buffet back up and running at the Best Western. With the tense news of the Ukrainian invasion serving as a news backdrop in the breakfast area, we enjoyed a very full breakfast. Then we piled into our room to watch the Hillside Sunday service. By 11:20AM, we were checked out and on our way! A wonderful walk at Risser's Beach Provincial Park was followed by a drive to Mahone Bay for lunch, via the very exciting La Have Cable Ferry. We pulled away from Mahone Bay just before 3PM and were home again by 4PM. Memories of a great weekend getaway will nourish us for the busy week ahead.
Late afternoon walk in Centennial Park in Liverpool. The previous day's snowfall made for a picture-perfect stroll along the shores of the Mersey River.

"Imagine meeting you here!" Centennial Park, Liverpool.
"So you wanna pass by that bridge? Yeah, that one. Well, you've gotta get past us first!" Bridge across the Mersey River, Liverpool, from Centennial Park.
Who needs restaurant dine-in when one can concoct a first-class dining experience in one's own hotel room! The take-out food from the Route 3 Cellar Tap Room and Grill was quite good.
Dinner was followed by a game of Skip-bo and another of Scrabble, with edible chocolate tiles!
Risser's Beach, just west of La Have.

"Brrrr... Let's hope the wind is at our backs on the way back up the beach!"

Friday's snow created a great winter atmosphere in the woods, just off Risser's Beach.
The La Have cable ferry, from La Have to East La Have. Still free, during Covid. We arrived just in time to load up for the seven-minute crossing of the La Have River.
A wonderful lunch of carrot-squash soup at Rebecca's Place in Mahone Bay was the perfect cap on our mini-getaway.
